With backgrounds as coaches, athletes, parents, and business professionals, we join forces to make figure skating more accessible, affordable, and sustainable for the future. What unites us is a shared passion for skating and the belief that every talent deserves the chance to develop. Together, we dedicate our energy and commitment to helping this beautiful sport grow.

My love for figure skating began on the ice, where I was active as a skater for many years. After my own skating career, I enthusiastically transitioned into coaching. For several years now, I have been guiding young skaters with passion and joy, and I truly enjoy being able to follow their development up close.

Having been both a skater and a coach myself, I have a deep understanding of the challenges parents face in supporting their child in this beautiful sport. I bring this perspective to my work and my role within the foundation.

As a board member, I bring a fresh perspective to coaching. I combine my experience as an athlete with a young, contemporary approach to coaching and organization. In doing so, I hope to make a valuable contribution to the future of figure skating and to the mission of our foundation.

My figure skating journey began as an athlete, but I soon discovered my passion for coaching. I have now been active as a trainer for over 30 years, most of which as head coach. During those years, I have worked with many talented skaters who achieved national titles and even competed at European and World Championships—accomplishments I am proud of.

For me, figure skating is about more than just top-level sport: I believe it is important that everyone who wants to should have the opportunity to practice this beautiful sport. That is what makes our foundation’s mission so personal and meaningful to me.

Within the foundation, I serve as Chair. Drawing on my experience as a coach, I understand the challenges within the figure skating world and know what steps are needed to advance the sport. Thanks to my leadership skills and broad knowledge of the field, I can provide direction to the board and contribute to a strong, forward-looking foundation.

Alex Dijkstra

Through my leadership role in the chemical industry, I have gained extensive experience in managing processes and successfully running an organization. I am pleased to apply this knowledge and these skills within our foundation, in the areas for which I am responsible.

In addition, I have been actively involved in the figure skating world for many years. As a passionate enthusiast of the sport, I have a clear understanding of the challenges and areas for improvement. These insights were a key motivation for founding the foundation: to work together to make figure skating more accessible and sustainable for the future.

My personal involvement began when my son started figure skating and quickly showed talent. This gave me firsthand experience of the obstacles and challenges skating parents face. I bring this experience to my role on the board, considering not only the organizational perspective but also that of parents and athletes—providing a fresh and valuable viewpoint within the board.
